For my interpretation of this card, I chose two otters. Swimming side by side, they symbolize closeness, trust, and the feeling that together we are stronger than we are alone. Surrounded by aquatic plants, shells, and delicate organic ornaments, the illustration creates a peaceful scene that speaks of companionship—of moving through light and darkness together.

Like every card in this series, The Lovers began as a hand-painted original artwork before being carefully refined digitally. The intricate ornamental details are enhanced with shimmering gold foil, bringing the illustration to life as it catches the light.
